Storm & Silence
Sketching
Using elements learned during the mind map and moodboard process as well as personal knowledge of the story itself, I created a series of hand sketches for the front cover design. Bringing in the elements from the hand sketches that were the most successful, I began digitally sketching drafts of the front cover design.
After deciding on the front cover design, I went through a few iterations of the spine and back cover designs before arriving at the final designs.
The final spread design is dark toned. The front cover’s typogrpahic elements represent the two characters in the book that embody “storm” and “silence.” The back cover has a summary, and it’s background contains a quote that is used in this book and all the ones following. The spine is a combination of the two fonts from the cover.
